HIRAIL THROUGH THE ROCKIES 2 - Exshaw to Lake Louise
I've been sitting on this since about 2001. It
was a fairly gloomy day (not to mention really
cold), but we did meet a couple of trains, and I
got to ride around Morantís Curve. Shot over the
cab from the bed of a CP pickup, you see the view
straight ahead, more or less as a train crew
would see it. No narration. Markers every 5
minutes.

BOXCAB - MONTREAL'S SUBURBAN ELECTRICS
Available again by request after several years, this is an older
program shot in 1989 on older equipment, so the quality is not
nearly as good as newer programs. However, the boxcabs and
steeplecabs are long gone, never to return. These were the
oldest locomotives in regular service on the continent,
1914 GE and 1924 English Electric Co. Boxcabs, and 1950 GE
steeplecabs, with six axle heavyweight cars, and some 1952
EMU's.

Field to lake Louise & Back:
Taped from the back of a CP Highrail Pickup in early June 2000 in perfect weather. No bugs on the windshield
(no windshield!), no wipers, just a straight ahead view with a locked down camera. Only problem was insufficient
light from the pickup's headlights, so I've left out the Spiral Tunnel interiors. Great snow covered mountain scenery.
Ride the Hill! No narration, on screen locations.

BC RAIL
This trip was the fulfillment of a long time personal ambition. We started at the yard at North Vancouver with a rebuilt RS18 and worked our way along the main line to Prince George. We got a brief look at the Royal Hudson along Howe Sound, then concentrated on the freights which are mostly led by the C40-8CM cowls, which we thought were handsome units. The scenery was just magnificent, especially the Fraser Canyon north of Lillooet, making for some stunning views of the trains clinging to the mountainside. We were thrilled to find a pair of C-420's switching at Prince George, and couldn't resist a quick trip to Tacheeda to catch CN handing a coal train over to the electrics This is a fascinating and unique railroad, you'll Iike it as much as we did.

BEYOND HOPE Along the Thompson and Fraser
I'd wanted to shoot the Thompson & Fraser Rivers once I saw the CTC Board article in the August 1988 issue, it took nine years but it was worth the wait. Stunning scenery, two railroads with interesting power and lots of action make for a great railfan experience, and we had an excellent time charging up and down in hot pursuit, or finding a good spot and just sitting. We had never really seen CN's big cowls or new SD75's, and Chris had never seen CP's "Red Barns" so we saw lots of new stuff. We caught "The Rocky Mountaineer" and the "American Orient Express," which were pretty neat and several times caught trains on both sides of the river. We covered the line from Hope BC (hence the title) to Kamloops through the magnificent Fraser and Thompson Rivet Canyons.

WINTER ON KICKING HORSE PASS
February in the Canadian Rockies, with chest-deep snow, truly stunning scenery and action red SD40-2's. What more could you ask for? We covered CP's transcontinental mainline between Golden BC and Banff AB through the Kicking Horse Valley, the Spiral Tunnels, over Kicking Horse Pass and down to Banff. Power is mostly SD40-2's with some SD40-2F's (red barns) and some leased power. The Rockies are absolutely magnificent and are right in your face, and Morant's Curve has to be one of the most spectacular locations on the continent. This tape recently received the Canadian Rockies Railroad Museum Foundation award for "Outstanding Achievement in Railroad Video"

Lots of snow on the mountains, AC4400's, SD90MAC's and tired SD40-2's provide the action. All the famous locations, Field, Ottertail, Leanchoil, Palliser, Glenogle, Donald, Beavermouth, Rogers, Mount MacDonald tunnel, Stoney Creek (a long hike in!), Connaught tunnel, Mount Shaughnessy tunnel, Ross Creek, Illecillewaet, Albert Canyon and lots more.
